Complete, expanded navigation to include main navigation from the top navigation plus less prominent sections such as Advertising, Customer care, Legal notices and copyright information.
Main Page Layout and Structure:
May include most important and latest articles.
Main image may have flash/CSS rotating images for all the featured stories. These images will rotate automatically and can also be user-controlled. This section may also have a description of the featured article.
A section of "what's inside" or a list of articles of interest may also be located above the fold. This can give an indication of the scope of the site content and help pique reader's interest.
Grid may divide information by sections. There will be visual indicators of their importance and difference. It could be the use of colors, tabs, icons or any variety of visual cues. A choice of the type of grid to be used will be discussed with the Publications' staff in the design stage.
Advertising banners may be used to break up the sections in the main content area as well as the bottom of the right navigation.
Thumbnails may be placed on the secondary navigation to invite users to subscribe.
Subtly dividing information that is part of the print version vs. web-only content may be explored. Certain sections that are part of the print-issue (for Print & Online Publications) may be color-coded it to mimic the latest Print Issue color scheme.
